bikes & bonfires

It’s been quite some time since my last blog post. I share a bunch of carousels on my Instagram (@mackhennz), but haven’t done a great job of sharing my work on here.

Anyways, when Nick Batten (@batten44) reaches out and mentions he’s throwing a Halloween bash with bikes, you make sure you show up. Nick and his girlfriend, Lisa (@lisamras), have put in so much work at their property over the years and, with Nick’s JBR Best Whip event experience, he knows how to throw a party. Friends showed up with their pit bikes and rode until sunset, then Nick and Seth Beaton (@sbeats134) got ready to hit the ramp. Before they hopped on, pallets were piled onto the fire and friends gathered around. The gap was set to 85’ and they wasted no time. Pretty crazy seeing them jump at night through one of the biggest fires I’ve seen.

Iceland

Iceland. One of those countries that is on millions of bucket lists...and for good reason. Last month, four friends and I ventured to this volcano-ridden country in hopes of seeing the sights that Southern Iceland has to offer.

Here are a few of my favorite sights and places:

The Golden Circle has plenty of worthy sights within a short drive from Reykjavik. We stopped at Pingvellir, Gulfoss, and Geysir. There aren't many food options on the route, so pack a lunch or plan to stop while you're visiting Geysir!

I managed to gather a few video clips while we were driving and hiking, and really got to put my Lander gear to the test! I was very pleased with the Traveler pack - it carried my camera and kept it dry even throughout Iceland's moody weather. Be sure to check out more of their gear at www.Lander.com, and save 25% with "Mackenzie25" at checkout!

Sights on the way to Vík. Every shade of green.

This drive was really pretty. It's amazing how many views we had within a few hours of driving. The waterfalls were breathtaking.

Reykjavik. Considering the city is mostly made of metal and concrete, it is awfully colorful.

On our final full-day in Iceland, we ventured further north to the Snæfellsnes peninsula, where we spent our afternoon in a very remote fishing town, then made our way around the peninsula loop. We hiked over old hardened lava along the seacoast and were overwhelmed by the cliffs and colors of the water below. Still in awe from the photos I got at Kitkjufell Mountain.

Where we spent our final night. The coziest little cabin, Tradir Guesthouse.

Thank you to Lander for supporting me with gear that kept my computer, camera, and phone safe while on this journey of a lifetime.

2017 JBR Best Whip Contest || Hemonds MX

The boys certainly put on a show! Had a blast shooting this action-packed event. They never fail to impress. Thank you Hemonds MX and Nick Batten for coordinating the perfect mid-summer New England moto/fmx event. Seth Beaton for the win and the additional entertainment followed by Garrett Merk on the mic!

Urban Adventures

So the east coast finally got a decent amount of snow, and it was time to charge all of the batteries and pack up the generator. I met up with Will Mayo, Zack Normandin, and Alex Cole to explore Lowell's urban possibilities and hopefully land a shot. Here are a few candid moments from the day...saving the other shots for later!
